Philosophy Statement
Children learn best in a natural environment while providing them with a sage, nurturing place to grow. A natural environment helps them to feel free to learn and to discover both themselves and the world in which they live. It also provides them a place to feel secure and cherished so that they can have opportunities to fill their "treasure chest" with childhood dreams and memories to carry with them into adolescence and adulthood.
When your child is in our care, you can expect you child to receive loving attention that is individualized to meet both their needs as well as the needs of the other children. All learning is incorporated into the child's daily routine and interest. The Potter Valley Childcare Preschool Program uses many daily tasks for children to learn things such as cooperation, negotiation, critical thinking, and your child's important role in the community in which they live.
This program is enriched in literacy, language and dramatic play. Each day we will create, dance, sing and read. Cooking projects and snack-time are great times to talk about nutrition and math concepts. Art will be offered daily in many different forms. Self-help skills will be encouraged daily. Learning to clean up after ourselves, helping a younger child, cherishing nature, and learning the importance of being a caretaker all foster self-esteem in our children.
