Sheri Burris - KUDOS 4 Kids, Director

Picture
I feel very fortunate to have been raised in Potter Valley, attend Potter Valley schools and graduate from Potter Valley High School. I married my high school sweetheart and raised two wonderful children in Potter Valley whom I am very proud of. In 1984, I opened a licensed Daycare in my home. I ran a Daycare and preschool program for nearly 16 years. I had a wonderful and rewarding 16 years educating and being a part of our community's children and their family’s lives. As my children began to reach their teens I felt the need to structure my time between my Daycare and the need to be involved with my children. I volunteered at the Potter Valley Youth and Community Center and provided a sage place for teens to hang out after school. As our funding stream changed and we were granted a state funded grant for an after school program for children K-8th grade, I became the coordinator of our existing after school program (KUDOS 4 Kids). That was 8 years ago, since we have grown from about a dozen kids to over 80! Over the last 6 years I have become the Director of the after school program and Vice President of the PVYCC Board.
I love going to work and feel very fortunate to be working with the wonderful staff at our after school program. The best thing about my job is the kids. The rewards are endless, the smiles, hugs, laughter, learning and best of all when a kid says, "I love coming to KUDOS". Who we were to what we have become is the great accomplishment.

Mary Esenbock - KUDOS 4 Kids/Nutrition Coordinator

Picture
I was raised and educated in Minnesota, but have lived in Potter Valley for 32 years. I am married to Bill, voice of KWNE radio, with three children who graduated from Potter Valley Schools. I am a supporter of youth development and have been affiliated with education most of my adult life. I feel very privileged to be a part of Potter Valley After School Program, and have watched and been a part of KUDOS 4 Kids growth and transformation from an idea to a bright and smiling ongoing program. A program that provides enrichment, empowerment, self esteem, friendships and hopefully a lasting memories for children that have participated in after school programs over the 8 years of our operation.
My current role as coordinator is collaborating with Sheri Burris, to provide the best possible programs. I tutor grades K through 3, during an hour homework period as well as teach 5th Day Nutrition - Gardening Classes, K-8th grade.
Interacting with kids is the best education one can attain, working and playing with after school kids is fulfilling in the best possible ways. I hope to give many more years to the future or our youth, here in Potter Valley.

Grace Rodgers - Family Resource Center Coordinator

Picture
I was born and raised in Ukiah, Ca. I moved to Sacramento to obtain my Bachelor of Arts degree in Child Development, concentrating in Social and Community Settings. I then moved to Potter Valley in 2011. I was hired as the FRC Coordinator in November 2011. My role here is to coordinate and maintain the community center as a Family Resource Center. I am an advocate and Certified Application Assistant for Medi-Cal and CalFresh. I also coordinate events happening at the center as well as collaborate with Potter Valley Community School District. I feel very lucky to be a part of the Potter Valley Community. I look forward to my position as Coordinator of PVYCC and providing services to the individuals and families of Potter Valley.

Diana Torres - Administrative Assistant

Picture
I was born in Mexico and raised in California. I have worked at Potter Valley Youth and Community Center for 3 years as the Administrative Assistant. I am currently attending Mendocino College to receive my degree in Business Office Technology and Administrative Assistant. My role at the center is to provide Spanish/English translations and data entry for all programs, and to teach Love and Logic parenting classes.
The best parts about my job are linking people with the services they need, building trust and communication between different cultures, working with youth and watching them develop and learn new concepts to succeed in life.
